ATI Radeon HD 5770 and HD 7770 won't show 3 monitors.

This problem has gone on for ages.

    HD 5770:
3 monitors have worked for a few months, than worked again after I replaced the Display Port adaptor for 2 months.
This always has a 3rd monitor go black, but is recognised.
Then the 2 remaining monitors show, but over 2 or 3 hours the monitor displays crash, then reboot with displays all messed up?

    HD 7770:
No display at all. I hear Windows boot up with the welcome sound, but no picture.
I use the correct active mini Display adaptor (two of these) and a DVI-VGA adaptor on the 3rd monitor.

I have downloaded the latest CCC drivers.

AMD support is no good. Some Chinese girls who give the typical run around.
    Please help.

Are all 3 monitors the same brand and size? Does window detect the third monitor? Do you have both GPU's installed? Right click on an open area of the desktop, select screen resolution, then click the detect tab.

    Thanks bassfisher6522.

    2 monitors are ASUS VW227D, black, 51.5 x 38.8 x 30cm
    1 monitor is SAMSUNG 171NM S. 30cm height.

    2.
Windows is semi detecting the 3rd monitor (ASUS). There are 3 monitors recognised, but the 3rd monitor has a black screen unlike the other 2 monitors with a blue screen in Control Panel\Display\Screen Resolution.

    3. I only have 1 GPU installed. The HD 5770 which I've had for a while. The HD 7770 was no good from the start and I haven't put it back in, as I thought I should count my luck and stick with the 2 monitors on the HD 5770 for the time being.

Yes, I did the right click on the desktop which took me to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution which is how I usually control the displays. I find the CCC (Catalyst Control Centre) by AMD is too messy and unstable. Same prob through, only 2 monitors working, even though 3 monitors detected with the 3rd monitor in black.

How are you hooking up the 3rd monitor? With AMD, you must connect the 3rd monitor using the display port. If you use a display port adapter, it makes a difference whether it's passive or active. Again, based on what type of setup you have.

    Thanks for the website link.
I just ordered the Accel DisplayPort to VGA for the HD 5770 to see if this fixes it.
No idea about the HD 7770 fix though. I'm waiting on replies from AMD, but it's mostly broken English from China support, so I'm not holding my breath.

I should have mentioned; the preferred connection using the dongle is with the DVI ports. It's HD but with out the sound being carried through the DVI.

    Thanks.
My monitors are all VGA ports.
I use DVI to VGA adaptors on all 3 connectors.
    My HD 5770 has
    1 DisplayPort to VGA.
    2 DVI to VGA adaptor.

    Still no fix from AMD.
I'm just waiting on my 3rd DisplayPort to arrive and see how that goes.
No real need to fix the HD 5770 and I bought the expensive HD 7770 which I should use.
Not sure what computer shops are like in the States, but here they are shocking and don't take returns (or charge 20% stock fee.) even when electronics are faulty like this.
    It's so 2nd world.

    ...OK,

I have replaced my 2nd DisplayPort with a 3rd DisplayPort which is an AMD approved

Accell UltraAV B101B-003B Display Port with VGA Active Adapter' by Accell.

The 3rd monitor now shows the BIOS screen graphics and the Windows 7 glowing flag with text Starting Windows.
The 3rd monitor then goes back to blank/black and the 1st and 2nd monitor show.

This is using the HD 5770.
Why won’t the HD 5770 work and why won’t the HD 7770 show any picture (just black screens)?

Now, right click on an open are on the desktop, click scree resolution and then select detect, this should allow windows find the third monitor. Then under multiple displays select extend these displays and that should do it for you.

If you can't get it set up in windows, you might have to use the CCC panel to setup the third monitor.

    Thanks for the reply.
I have tested Windows 7 Screen resolution\Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display\Screen Resolution\Detect and it detects 3 displays, however the 1st and 2nd display are blue and the 3rd display is black?

I then tested CCC (Catalyst Control Centre) downloaded from AMD with the latest version and it only detects 2 monitors?

I'm waiting on a response from AMD level 2, unless you know a quicker way to fix these AMD faulty products?
