Random Graphic Crash during and before playing Games.

Greetings

I have been having a problem as of late dealing with a random screen crash during games.

The game will start up as normal and run smoothly until one point where the game has loaded in to the main menu then the monitor will black out for a brief few seconds then will display a kind of Coloury pattern across the screen (which varies every-time the game/s crash/es).

At this point there is no possibility of backing out of this pattern on-screen with no keyboard or mouse responding to anything I do (ALT+TAB; ALT+ESC; CTRL+ALT+DEL etc.) I have waited for 20 mins to see if it will respond but it still retains the screen, I think that this is to do with my Graphics Card (GeForce 6600 GT) because my computer is still playing sound while this screen is happening.

The games i have tried and failed to play listed
  • World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
  • Borderlands Game Of The Year Edition
  • Titan Quest
  • Titan Quest: Immortal Throne
  • Minecraft (when utilising the Full Screen option found in a FPS increase mod)(OptiFine)
  • League of Legends (known to me to crash like this but does not always)

My Graphics Card is up-to-date Drivers-Wise and my computer is clean and running smoothly with no overheated components.
Playing a game in windowed mode does the same except there the coloury graphic is just a black screen.
The Specs I can remember are listed in the "Specs Page"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
"Simmonds"

The PSU is a Hyena Switching Power Supply at a wattage of 300W.

You don't have enough power supply for the video card. I would go at least 500 W of quality power supply.

The thing is that i've had this PSU in the PC for 2 Years and worked without a hitch, so maybe its just because its getting old and worn out? im happy to buy another.

The manufacture of that video card specs recommend a power supply with more power. A 300W power supply won't run much on today's computers.

Hi, even if your PSU says it is 300 W it will never supply the same amount of power to the components. I will suggest you to get a branded PSU and as already mentioned 500W or better.

cheers
