Radeon 5700, How to set up 3 Monitors?

Hi, I have a Radeon 5700 graphics card. I currently have two screens running off DVI ports. My graphics card also has a HDMI and DisplayPort available. I know that my 3rd screen needs to be running from the DP connection to facilitate 3 screens. However, my screen only has HDMI and VGA inputs. So I bought a cord that went from DP to HDMI so that it could go directly from my tower to my screen without any adaptors. However, It still wont work! Apparently, I need some sort of 'active DisplayPort adaptor'. But my cable output to screen is HDMI. Is there an 'active adaptor' that is DP but goes from HDMI to HDMI? That seems like a very obsure thing to exist... How else can I fix this?

Hi, and Welcome to Seven Forums.

Instead of trying to explai how I seen people do it,I listed a link that explains it all, have a look at these two pages, the first tells and solves your problem. The second is a store that has all the right parts you need, have a browse in there and see what would work best for you.

    AMD Eyefinity Validated Dongles

    DisplayPort to HDMI Adapters

Sorry I dont type what to do, I am super tierd today, but feel free to ask any quistions after you red the links or you need more info.

    Thank you for the welcome!
Okay, I understand the problem now. Thank you.
Does it make a difference which end of the cable the adaptor goes on? Do I have to have the adaptor on the source end or the recieveing end? (i.e. does it matter which way the "active" signal is sent, as long as it is in the mix somewhere?)

The adaptor will plug into the video card.
You then just need a regular hdmi cable to plug the monitor to the adaptor.
