Secondary monitor resets on reboot

I setup dual monitors on my pc yesterday and (eventually) had everything pretty much as I want it, except upon reboot, my display settings revert to single display on my smaller monitor. I am unable to detect my second monitor (Sony Bravia 40" S4000) from within Windows. The only way I can get Windows to recognise my tv is to reboot Windows with my vga cable unplugged, then to use my tv as a main monitor to setup my vga monitor within Windows. Incidentally, Catalyst Control won't detect my monitors properly, I must use Windows' Screen Res tools to detect my displays and then switch to CCC to adjust my tv's screen properties. Is there a way to 'store' my display settings in this case? Needless to say, it's a lot of bother to reboot, disconnect cables, reconnect and then go through all my display setups everytime I wish to output to my tv. If it helps, the graphics card I'm using is a Radeon HD3400, connected to my tv via hdmi. As I say, I have no problem setting up my displays now, I'd just rather not have to do it everytime I switch to my tv. Any help would be much appreciated and may save me a huge amount of aggro.

Also, not sure if it relevant, but I have a 3rd display device showing (I have only 2 connected). Win Screen Res shows it as VGA display adapter, CCC shows it as Unknown Display. I'm assuming this is onboard graphics, but as it's been disabled from day 1, I'm sure it shouldn't display there. Doesn't seem to interfere with Duplicated screens 1 and 3...

    Thanks in advance,

I doubt you will get support on any forum with your positive attitude. Moving on, can you go to device manager and check display adapters?
If its only Integrated HD 3400 showing there, please download and save the latest drivers, I believe these are the drivers AMD Catalyst

Do not install, return to the device manager and delete the display adapter completely. Restart and install the newer drivers u recently downloaded.

How are both monitors being connected anyways, HDMI for TV and VGA for monitor? Also you mention the integrated graphics being disable? If its completely uninstall and disable it shouldn't show up in device manager at all. Anyways just trying to get the ball rolling, other members will intervene when they have time to spare and help out

    Edit:
Please upload a picture of device manager>display adapters.

With respect, I have tried to show a positive attitude for two weeks. This thread has had nearly 300 views and even been moderated with no hint of support. Being stonewalled is kind of frustrating. Still, I'm grateful for your response. Thank you. To answer your questions, you are correct. I'm using HDMI for my TV and VGA for my monitor. Integrated graphics are disabled and do not show up in Device Manager. Only my card shows in Device manager. I used AMD Catalyst Control Center to update my drivers a couple of weeks ago when I setup my tv, but I will take your advice as another update was apparently released a week ago. I will try it and post back. Thanks again for responding.

Boot into Windows using the Safe Mode.
Windows will load the default drivers.
    Once the desktop appears, reboot.
It may clear up the issue.

You also may want to create a profile within CCC.
If I'm not mistaken, the profile (user settings) are loaded upon boot.

Hi Chris, I took your advice to update my CCC and HydraVision to no avail. Thank you for posting though, regardless. It's nice to know people are listening.

Thank you too, Sardonicus. I have created a CCC preset and am faced with the same results. Unless I've mis-understood the pre-set process which I thought was as simple as switching to standard view and naming my pre-set. It did seem too easy and didn't seem to make much of a response when I did so (Excuse me if I made a really silly mistake there, I have little experience with CCC). Though, I am yet to test your safe mode suggestion. It's 1am now and I have work at 6, so I'll have to report back after work.

Much thanks to both of you for responding to me.

    1) your main monitor is your VGA, and your TV is your secondary display correct?
    2) your HDMI is your TV. Your TV does not connect after rebooting? Windows does or does not detect it?
    A) Have you tried uninstalling the drivers for the monitor? This may be what is causing it to auto detect.
    B) Also is this TV ON at the same time you turn on windows & in the right input/source
    3) what is this 3rd VGA display adapter can you take a screen shot of it and upload?

press the Windows key + P to attempt to switch/retry connecting.
I had problem before that require me to restart and it was a pain, so I can feel your frustration.

Hi Chris. You are correct. My monitor is VGA, my TV is secondary display via HDMI. TV is undetected unless it is the only display connected during boot. I tried uninstalling my monitor drivers and see no change. I always change my TV to HDMI 2 input before booting. My screenshot is showing the Screen Resolution tool with just my monitor attached. My TV shows up next to these 2 when I can get Windows to recognise it.
