is this your setup?

Acer Aspire AM3400-E2212 AMD Athlon II X4 635 4GB 1TB DVDRW Windows 7 Home Premium Desktop - Acer - PT.SE002.001
Yep, it's exactly the one I have, its not very good for gaming though.
That motherboard has:-
  • PCI Express® 2.0 x16 slot - This is the socket you'll need.
  • Two PCI Express® 2.0 x1 slots - not sure about this
  • PCI™ v2.3 (5 V) slot - or this one
But the PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot is the one you'll use for a new graphics card.

PLEASE NOTE: if there is a chance that the link i posted above is wrong then ignore what i have s

It looks like most hd 5670 cards are either pci-e 2.0 or 2.1. 2.1 cards will fit and work in a 2.0 socket but it'll downgrade to a 2.0 card. Please could you post a link to your choice of 5670
I am going to try out what Solarstarshines picked out for me.

You won't be disapointed and in future you could save more money get a second card better PSU and go crossfire with a new board of course but you should be good for a long while with what you have

With a mild overclock you will have almost 7850 performance

Its been having problems, in game, where it laggs, and the display driver keeps crashing. Even with lower graphics. I have tried venting it from over heating, and updated my drivers. Or it could just be the 300W power supply.

Im pretty sure your card is just had it's glory and it can't handle the new stuff if it was a 4870 X2 then you would still have a chance ,It's time for a upgrade and PSU lagging can come from the psu and the card PSU going bad or card just can't hang period

I wasn't sure that the 7750 was enough of an upgrade to be worthwhile, but I guess that it may be:

AnandTech - Bench - GPU12

If you can get a factory overclocked card like this one:

AMD Radeon

without too much of a price premium, go for it.

(the link is to a comparison with a 6670, but I believe that a 5670 and a 6670 are nearly the same).

Sorry, I don't understand your point.

I thought that the 5670 and 6670 were very similar. The benches that you post pretty much bear that out. (The 6670 is a bit better, but not much.)

The 7750 is a different story. It's certainly a great card for its price.

Am I an unclear writer, or was there a reading comprehension problem?
