HDMI cable not working with laptop to 32" Vizio tv

Well, my problem is pretty simple, at least I believe it is. Whenever I use my HDMI cable with my 32" Vizio HDTV with a video games console, it will work. However, when I use the HDMI cable in order to extend my laptop screen on to the tv, it doesn't even reconize it.

When I tried to use the PnP option for the monitor settings, it didn't even work like that. Instead, it shows something like this:

My computer is an Inspiron N5050 (Walmart.com: Dell Obsidian Black 15.6" Inspiron N5050 Laptop PC with Intel Core i3-2350M Processor and Windows 7 Home Premium with Windows 8 Pro Upgrade Option: Computers)

And if this doesn't show, I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

P.S: My screen resolution is 1366 x 768, which is listed "Recommended."
