    funny enough mine does not!

in installed the 9.9 drivers and Win7 just dies on me (after the windows logo screen)

    any clues?

it dosnt even dectect the 4770 and sees it as a Standard VGA adaptor

Things to check: The internal power connector is correct, chipset drivers updated.

Install the driver using the device manager manual install method.

Does it crash completely, hang or keep on displaying the wavy colors?

I updated the P55 UD4 drivers last night.

I then went to try install the video card manually but when i navigated to the driver dir it dosnt pick up the model and again says that standard VGA is best suited.

It just hangs on a black screen after the windows logo.

I have two of this running in Crossfire under Windows 7 64-Bit (RTM) without a hiccup. Ensure that you have the onboard (if your MB has it) is disabled in the BIOS and that all of your PCI-Express settings are correct as well. I would remove all drivers from the machine that are currently on there, using the remove tool in the 9.9 download. Reboot and then reinstall again.

Make sure that you are download the 32-Bit if you are on 32-Bit and the same goes for 64-Bit.

In other words it has to be something in your workflow or drivers going wonky, so start there and work your way out to hardware conflicts.

One more thing, ensure that you have no other video card drivers installed. In safe made go under the Device Manager, then display adapters, and sure that all are removed from there. Then restart and install 9.9 fresh and clean again.

Just built a new rig with a Sapphire 512Mb 4700 and after boot-up Windows 7 found the drivers and installed automatically. It works great and I LOVE this card!!! I upgraded from an ATI 2600XT and the difference is amazing. I can play almost ANY game at pretty much full settings on my 28" Hanns-G. Haven't tried Crysis yet but that's next. Also, after switching to Windows 7, I feel like I am experiencing the PC for the fist time again ! Really, I was EXTREMELY hesitant to change from XP but with Windows 7 64bit (first time on a 64 bit as well) my PC is smooooooooth, man!
