    Dell 23" u2312 16:9 or 24" u2412 16:10...please help

Hello, I bought the Dell 2412, but I'm still in shock at the screen size (came from primarily laptop use). I primarily use the computer for work (internet, ms office, etc). I hear 16:10 is better for web viewing but have also heard kicked around that 16:9 is more natural to what humans see. The issues with this monitor are that I lean in to read text on the screen (looking way too close by OSHA standards) and even with the max height adjustments on monitor/desk/chair, I am only at eye level with 3/4th height of the monitor, not eye level with top/near top line as OSHA also says I should (OSHA Ergonomic Solutions: Computer Workstations eTool - Components - Monitors). So I'm thinking the Del 2312 with the 1" lower height and the 1080 resolution (vs 1200 on the 24") will be more comfortable to my viewing posture/reading. I realize I lose 1" of monitor and a little more screen space with the resolution but I'm slightly more concerned with height/readability since both these screens seem to fit a lot on the screen to me. Can anyone please help with advice? I'm agonizing over this too much and just have a couple more days left in my return policy.

I think you should just keep the 24", I honestly think you are concerning yourself way too much with OSHA. If you are needing to lean in a lot to read text, you probably need to increase the font size. Going to a 23" won't solve that.

    CTRL + plus (+ = key ) zooms in, CTRL + hyphen ( _ - key) zooms out

Thanks for your reply. Would a 23" 16x9 increase the text size vs 24" 16x10? I'm hoping to find a natural solution that wouldn't require me to zoom in or out constantly.

No it wouldn't, it would actually be pretty much the same.
You should just keep the 24" and let yourself get used to it.

It took me a while to get used to my 30" monitor when I got it.

Thanks again, okay, it's been 25 days and still feel strain/awkward having to strain the neck/eyes more to look up but maybe the muscles will get used to it. I'm leaning more towards your advice of the 24" though, thank you.

Do you have a head rest on your chair? Getting a full length chair with either a head rest or a neck rest that can lean back will help reduce the strain.

No I don't, that could help. Also, I need to work on my posture because I sometimes catch myself in awkward sitting positions, lol.
