Windows 7: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 HDMI connection to SHARP AQUOS HDTV

I can’t connect to my HDTV via HDMI cable. My laptop doesn’t recognize the connection at all. I've Listed below the specs of the hardware I’m using and some of the other circumstances and troubleshooting steps that I have taken.
-I have a ASUS B53J series notebook with dual video adapters (Intel(R) HD Graphics and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470) I have updated the drivers for these devices through the ASUS website. I am running Windows 7 64-bit.
- I CAN successfully connect to the TV through the laptops VGA.
-My TV is a 52 inch SHARP AQUOS LED flat screen TV. I have ensured that the firmware is up to date and I have tried every available HDMI input on the TV without success.
-My XBOX 360 and SHARP AUQOS BLU RAY player connect to the TV no problem using the same HDMI cable(s).
-I have successfully connected to the same TV with two other laptops.
-Before owning this TV I had a SONY 40 inch flat screen that I could successfully connect to using the same HDMI cable(s).

Any help sure would be appreciated!!
