Help with Graphics Card Compatibility Problem

How can i find out if my ATI AMD Radeon 5450 Graphics card is compatible with my motherboard. My computer is a d530 MiniTower Convertible. My motherboard is 085Ch. The graphics card goes in the AGP Slot (I think thats what it is called).

Yeah apparently it is compatible.... Why are you asking? If it's already in it and you're linking a monitor cable from the card to your monitor then it's working...

i ask because my computer doesn't recognize it because it is using the integrated video card. Do you know how to disable it. I've tried going in to the BIOS and to no avail. It does not show up under display adapters in Device Manager. the olny thing showing up there is a standard VGA adapter which i disabled

It doesn't recognize it? So you plug in the cable from the card to the monitor and there's no display, and you're forced to use your onboard card? Or you still plug it in from the card to the monitor but it still uses integrated graphics?

The latter. Just a VGA cable btw. (That's the blue ended one right?)

Yep.
VGA - blue
DVI - White
HDMI - Black

So what you're saying is, you've checked that the VGA cable is linked from the graphics card to the monitor, but when you check Device Manager, your card doesn't show up?

Has your computer warranty expired yet?
If it has, then open it up and try taking the card out, cleaning the slot with compressed air and then putting the card back in again.
If the warranty hasn't expired (which I assume it hasn't, otherwise you'd have made this thread a lot earlier) then you should contact your computer manufacturer, because sometimes in their policy, they'll void the warranty if they detect that someone else has opened up your computer.

It is expired. I got it second hand in pristine condition. The man who sold it to me was an IT Professional. I will clean it an get back to you.

Good, remember to turn off all the power before opening it - pull the plug and hold down the "on" button for 30 seconds first.
