    resolution problem!

i installed the windows everything was perfect at the first look, but the the resolution was 1680 x 1050 and i wanted to change it back to 1280 x 960(witch i used whit vista) but when i choose it everything is a little blurry and i also have 2 black labels in the left and the right of the screen! i use nvidia 8500GT and as a monitor a benq 22inc widescreen (G2200WA) and i heard alot of ppl fixed this problem by installing the monitor driver but i can't seem to find one :| dose anyone know the solution to this?

oh and i know there are 10000 topics about this, but since im a gamer im really desperate to fix it! and 1 more thing don't post anything like "i have a similar problem(and the whole thing will differ from mine and we are all gonna get confuzed)

1680 x 1050 is your monitor's native resolution, which means that it likes it the best. If I were you, I'd leave it set for that. It's a 16:10 ratio, widescreen.

What you are trying to do, 1280 x 960, is a 4:3 ratio more sutiable for standard television sets and CRT monitors. Much closer to the shape of a square than a rectangle, unlike your monitor. That's why there are black bars for this resolution on your screen. It is correct.

Like I said, set it to 1680 x 1050 and you're good. You can increase the size of things on the screen if you want for different apps and even Windows itself at this (or any) resolution.

i mean whit vista it looked the most perfect, but the problem is, even if i run a game (witch will be a lower res then the desktop one) ill still see the black bars and i still see everything blurry, it's like taking a printscreen of your desktop then add it to photoshop and keep bluring it!

In some games under options you can select full screen. as for all the other problems you'll need the help of someone else on this forum. Welcome to severn forums, it would also help to fill in your system specs under user cp, lets other know just what all your hardware is. Fabe

I know this is repetetive but PLEASE fil in your full system specs at the top of the page it says user cp go into their and fill out everything to the best of your knowledge. What build of win 7 are you using 7100 rc 64bit 7600 rtm or a beta version? I searched the BenQ site and they don't show a driver for your monitor which is pretty important. What monitor is shown in device manager? right click computer click manage to get to device manager. If it just shows a pnp the you are going to be stuck with minimum ability to change resolutons and hz. BenQ Monitors drivers system specs how to is in general disscusion/ how to system specs. here is another thread on simular issues or what might be causeing it. Just trying to help. What driver are you using for your graphics card? Are you running the win7 64bit or the 32 bit? These are things we need to know. What win 7 build beta 7100 7600rtm? Win 7 default driver is the 190.62 you may have to update your chipset drivers or your bios these are all things I have read as suggestions. And to answer you I don't know why it has to be so hard except it is a new OS. I have 2 9800 gt's I can't get to run in SLI and nobody knows why. I'm just trying to help. You still didn't answer what monitor it says in device mngr. Reason is it could be a refesh rate problem, or a driver problem. or a card not seated all the way or a lose cable. But we need a place to start from.
