Black screen on TV

it's a normal tv output failure, but i'm not sure it's nvidia or windows fault. (W7x64, 9800gt, standard vga out&input into a normal 100hz tv). While bios loading everything works perfectly. but in windows i can't get but black screen on tv.

i can't setup the tv options, because there's nothing like that. it displays a secound monitor, but not as a tv.
i can't set a lower resolution & hz to tv, because it won't display the created one's (like 640@50 or 100 hz) amongst the choosable resolutions. only the defaults appear there.

for xp and an older nvidia there was a solution - 'downgrade' the driver. there was a registry file, which gave back an older nvidia control panel, and i could set up everything perfectly. but now i have no clue.

maybe you..

(ps: tv has no dvi or hdmi input. only scart, vga, s-video and rca.)

I had a similar problem with my last HTPC system and TV. I was running Vista x64 Professional with an 8500GT. I had to use the S-Video output from the video card to the TV (was a Phillips 34" WS CRT). Not sure if it would work for you but here is what I did.

I had to do it a few times as sometimes the HTPC would forget my TV.
I think I was using Forceware 178.XX...

Hooked up the TV when the HTPC was off.
Started HTPC and went to NV Control Panel.
Restored everything to default (single display)
Went to "Multiple Displays" and clicked on "Dualview".
Apply settings
I then went back to select Monitor and TV.
Clicked on monitor and go with auto detect
Clicked on TV and picked "Force Detect"
Set the resolution on the TV as low as possible first. Then increased it after.

In my experience, unless I use the original Sony driver (2007), I lose the use of S-Video, no matter how new the drivers are, and I've tried different combinations using elements, mainly control panel from the original and newer versions, but still to no avail, so could be a driver issue.

somewhat i succeded. the solution was not on nvidia tab. i created multiple unique resolutions to the secondary monitor (TV). then on display window i changed the 'standard monitor' to 'standard tv'. and on that very same display tab there's a special button, where i could use the unique resolutions and frequencies created in nvidia setup.

but the real trick was 59-60Hz. altought my tv is 100hz, it didn't work on 100 (or 50)Hz. but on 60..

only 640x480@60Hz was good, but i'm still trying..

thx anyway
