I have purchased this graphics card, and installed it, but i am unable to get my 3 displays from all the different ports. I have 3 displays one using VGA, one using DVI and another using a DisplayPort to HDMI converter.. but i am only able to use two displays at a time, and it doesn't matter what screen its on i am only able to use 2 screens, not 3.. do you have any ideas or suggestions on how i can fix this. Please reply ASAP
Your HD5450 video card is no different than virtually all other "DUAL PORT" video cards: it supports ONLY TWO AT A TIME, even though it has three physical connectors.
I actually don't know if it's really ANY TWO AT A TIME, or VGA+DVI and VGA+DP, but not DVI+DP.
If you have to support 3 monitors simultaneously, you'll either need two video cards or a different video card with simultaneous support for more than 2 connections.
Again, this is no different from any of the standard video cards from ATI... e.g. HD4550, HD3850, HD5450, HD4670, HD4850, HD5770, all of which I've owned and used... these are ALL DUAL PORT video cards, most of which have three connectors on them (e.g. so that you can use HDMI or DVI or DP for one of the two ports, while being forced to use the other port whatever it is... VGA or DVI).
That's it for your card, I'm afraid. Only 2 at a time.
It may be your adaptor causing your issue.
Is the one you are using on the approved eyefinity hardware chart?

The adaptor/dongle needs to be active and not passive, so if you have a passive one, you need to replace it.
•*A maximum of 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) can be enabled simultaneously, provided that each monitor is connected either directly or via a “passive” DisplayPort™ adapter/dongle. “Passive” adapters/dongles will NOT support more than 2 legacy monitors.
I honestly had never researched Display Port, so I didn't know this.
But obviously this brief description provides much to applaud about. It does appear that the Display Port option supports more than one monitor from a single Display Port connector on the video card.
However I'm still dubious that all three connectors on the HD5450 card can work simultaneously, as I believe there are only two RAMDAC's. There was recently a very similar thread in this forum on the same topic which uses that explanation as two why that's significant.
But if the Display Port connector were used (rather than either VGA or DVI), then I suppose multiple Display Port monitors could be supported.
Nevertheless, I do admit to and plead "ignorance" when it comes to Display Port.
No, i have just bought a HDMI adapter off ebay, which converts the DP to hdmi.
But i have read alot on this, and I am wondering if i was to purchase an 'Active' DisplayPort converter it should work, but I'm also wondering if im able to convert my VGA from an anelogue to a digital output, with a DVI converter, then all outputs on the video card will be Digital?
DP is a digital connection, as is HDMI.
VGA is an analog connection. Converting it to a physical DVI connection plug (i.e. DVI-A) doesn't make it "digital", but only that it's "DVI plug-compatible". It's not "DVI-D or "DVI-I" (both analog and digital).but I'm also wondering if im able to convert my VGA from an anelogue to a digital output, with a DVI converter, then all outputs on the video card will be Digital?
I believe it will still look like an analog connection to the video card and drivers and CCC if you look.
