Windows 7: Monitor flickering on and off.

Monitor flickering on and off.

I know that this is not a necessarily Windows 7 issue, but I have no idea what is going on here. I recently bought three LG E2242 monitors for my system, and one of them will inconstantly stay on. I am fairly certain that it is not the monitor as I have switched the monitors to see if that was the case. I think it may have something to do with how I have everything set up. I have the monitors plugged into my Radeon HD 6850 (two using DVI, one using an active Display Port to DVI adapter). The one thing that I thought of was that the signal from the Display Port one the graphics card was not getting enough power, or getting just too little power... but that doesn't really seem that feasible (bear in mind, I am not a computer engineer, so who knows, hopefully someone out there ).

TL : DR -> One of my three monitors flickers on and off, not the monitor or the cable, could be the adapter or the graphics card.

Please any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there Blaze!

Could you possibly try attaching the GPU to another PCI slot? Or is the GPU running on the PCI express slot?

Also, what is your PSU rated at, and is it an >80% efficiency rating?

What dp to dvi adapter brand/model are you using?
That item is most likely the problem.

Unfortunately, I only have one PCI slot that will house my graphics card.

It's maximum output is 750W and it's efficiency is 85%. It's also about 6-8 months old.

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE Active DisplayPort Adapter 100924 DisplayPort to DVI Interface <- This is what I am using.

New Info: The three DVI cables are all new, and I am going to triple check the problem by changing the monitors again. (i.e. output to monitor)

Now the monitor is just displaying black (i.e. the screen is lit). Any ideas?

Note: When I hooked up two monitors (A and B) they both worked. When I used the one that wasn't working (in configuration B and C) C (the non-functioning monitor) came on full for a minute and then stopped displaying while still being fully 'on' (the whole lit but all black thing). I have tried changing cables again, and now I think it is the monitor. The last thing I will try today is to change the position of the monitors and then see what happens (although I feel I know the outcome).

Yes, it does sound like a faulty monitor to me.

I tested with my old monitor this morning, and it is definitely the monitor, not the cable or graphics card, so I will take the monitor back and get a new one. Thanks for the help.
