How to change the monitor resolution to a custom resolution

    Hi all,

So I'm creating a program for a friend but we are having trouble trying to display things in a 1280 x 1024 resolution.

Is there any way to create a custom resolution on my laptop or monitor of 1280 x 1024? Our monitors don't have this resolution listed in the display settings, or is this a driver issue?

    Cheers,

The resolution availability can be affected due to the graphics card installed. I will have a think about any other factors which may affect the resolution.

    Screen Resolution - Display Settings

The tutorial's information box explains which factors that affect your screen resolution availability.

    Hope this helps,

    I am not using my laptop, but;
Right-click an empty spot on your desktop and select “Screen Resolution”

Do you have the slider as shown when selecting "Resolution"?

Yeah but I only have options which fit my screen ratio, not any for a square monitor like 1280 x 1024.

Check the tutorial listed in my other post too, for information about screen resolution factors.

Alright so there are no options for 1280 x 1024, so is this not possible?

The specifications page shows the maximum resolution of this video card to be above that of the resolution I need.

    Thanks a lot,

Yes I believe so, it could be due to graphics card, graphics drivers or the monitor size.

Is the native resolution of the monitor you are working on 1280 x 1024 ?

Is it a full screen monitor ?

Post a snip of your current screen resolutions as I`ve done here.

Do you have adjust desktop size and position in your gpu control panel? It might be a gpu issue/driver. When I use my ATI cards it shows my all my resolutions my acer can do @ 120hz. GTX 470 doesn't list half of them and I cant create them.
