Sorry the connection is VGA as i just looked on the back of the monitor and it is not going into the DVI in spot. There are no places for HDMI. Dont believe i fully understand your question. How do i test this other then just plugging the monitor into the desktop? I have to apologize for my lack of computer skills.

Just hit the detect button and it is now showing the correct monitor. Dont understand why this happens.

That's great news.

I had just meant to use a HDMI cable instead of a VGA cable to connect the monitor to the card with. That's all.

Thanks, hopefully it lasts or again ill be back. Maybe just replace the video card or something if it happens again. Thanks again for the quick response/help. Much appreciated.

If it keeps happening, keep trying the "Detect" button, but you might also try using a different cable like HDMI.
