HD 6450 should be compatible too, and it will be a little faster than the HD 5450.

PCI-E 2.1 only added functionality. speed of PCI-E 2.0 and 2.1 is the same and is backward compatible.

Note that If your board has multiple slots for PCI x16, then look to make sure the slot is not wired lower like x8.

for more info:
Quote:
The number of lanes actually connected to a slot may also be less than the number supported by the physical slot size.
An example is a 8 slot that actually only runs at 1. These slots allow any 1, 2, 4 or 8 card, though only running at 1 speed. This type of socket is called a 8 (1 mode) slot, meaning it physically accepts up to 8 cards but only runs at 1 speed.
PCI Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some boards come with more than one PCI x16 slots, but only two of them are wired for x16. usually this will be denoted with tabs at the end as wired for x16. the others are not. they should also be labeled as such: and as visible in this pic, you can see the actual connections to the board are fewer in the x16@x4 than in the x16@x16 slot
