PCI-X video cards with Windows 7

I have an old HP Proliant PC that I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. There are only two PCI-X slots (one half height and the other full height). This is not PCI-Express or plain PCI.

Here is the question: I need to add a video card to support a higher resolution monitor. There is an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI-X card out there, but it is not supported with Windows 7. Since this card type is more than 10 years old and operating systems have moved on, I need to know where to find a new PCI-X graphics card (or used) that will support higher resolution. If a standard PCI card will fit in the slot, will it work and what is the down side. I hear the driver is the real issue - no drivers for Windows 7 with PCI-X.

Any ideas - other than toss the PC and start over?

    Dick.

Look at this: ATI Radeon HD5450 1GB DDR3 PCI / PCI-X Graphic Card - Red - Worldwide Free Shipping - DX

It is a special edition of the Radeon HD 5450 compatible with PCI and PCI X bus. It has 1GB 64-bit DDR3 memory and it supports DirectX 11.

It supports up to 2048 x 1536 resolution.

Don't expect high performance with this card, it is a low end one, but it is capable of HD videos and photos and light 3D applications.

I'd wager a modest sum (5¢) that it's not a "special edition" at all - just a plain PCI graphics card.

Look at this too: HIS HD 4350 Silence 512MB (64bit) DDR2 PCI < PCI Edition < Desktop Graphics < Products | HIS Graphic Cards (HD 4350, DDR2 memory and DirectX 10.1 support)

This should be a bit more powerful: HIS 5450 Silence 512MB DDR3 PCI DVI/HDMI/VGA < PCI Edition < Desktop Graphics < Products | HIS Graphic Cards (HD 5450, DDR3 memory and DirectX 11 support)

Both are low profile cards with passive cooling. I don't suggest anything above them because they are really the minimum for high resolutions. A slower PCI card will slow down the system.
