Currently I am using XFX GT 240 GDDR5 for nearly 2 years. I know it is pretty outdated card and is no match for even low end HD6670.Overall system configuration is
Intel Core i5 2400 Processor
Intel DH67BL Motherboard
4GB DDR3 1333Mhz (Kingston and Corsair-2GB each)
1TB SATA III 6GB/S Seagate HDD
550W Antec
Though the above components are new, this card has been used in my last PC with Core 2 Duo E7500.
I am planning to upgrade the card for the following reasons:
1)The card is pretty outdated
2)I think the card is bottle necking the good CPU
3)Used pretty well for last 2 years
I do play games weekly but for last 2 years I have played games at pretty high settings with this card for prolonged hours.Since the resolution of monitor is just 1366x768 only,I could set the graphics settings of the games almost at high settings at playable FPS.Now I wonder why it is not failing even after intensive use.I have tested the card with Furmark and showed a well positive results.Temperature increase was pretty slow during the test and after 15-20minutes,the temperature became almost idle at 78-79-80 degree C.Idle temperature is 34-35 degree C. Till now I couldn't find any issues with this except it lacks DX11 support and "oldness",i.e I have no idea when does this fail and each time when I turn on PC I am worried whether it will fail in the next instant or not. However let me know whether I should upgrade the card or not since there are people here who know better than me.Anyway if I upgrade,I have 3 choices
1)GTX 550Ti
2)HD 7750
3)HD 6670
Which is suitable for me? I have only 1366x768 monitor, plays latest games weekly but plays for full time for vacations!. My mind says HD 7750 is the best choice since HD6670 is just a step in front of GT 240 and GTX 550ti is too good for a player like me.The last game I have played with this card is Dishonored at high settings with FXAA enabled but at 1366x768!
