    Updating from Nvidia 7600GT

I am considering buying a new graphics card for my computer to coincide with putting Windows 7 Retail in my computer too. What do you think would be a great graphics card for Windows 7 that doesn't take up too much room in my case but is an excellent upgrade from the 7600GT.

My specs are below, if you need anymore specs, let me know.

Sadly most GFX cards these days look like bricks (and weigh as much...)

What is your price range and how big is your case...

Post a photo is you can

Oh how I love Vivi (looking at your sig...). I still lmao at the fact that Vivi beats Seifer in KHII

...anyhow at the price range how does this sound?

    Newegg.com - XFX GX260XADJC GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
    The great gaming 260

    or

    Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100279-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
The best that ATI has to offer right now (I think)

If you want one that doesn't take up too much room, then you could get one of the smaller Geforce 9600GTs. There should be some that are around the same size as your 7600 and will run Windows 7 fine.

Well by "takes up too much room", I'm guessing you mean something like not too long and not a dual slot card that takes up two slots in your case?

Yeah, pretty much. If it were to take two slots, I could probably work it out. I was kind of looking at the 9600GTs before...

A 260 is the best bet now. I am waiting for the new 300 series to come out so the prices will drop on the 275 and up. You may keep this in mind. The 200 series will most likely be cheaper in a couple of months.

Yea the 9600GTs are more or less the same size as the card you have now.

Then there's the 9800GTs that are the same length, but will take up two slots as they generally have bigger coolers on. Anything above that and you're getting in to the longer cards. Though a 9600 is still a big improvement over the 7600.

Not sure what there is to offer size wise on ATI cards though.
