    Upgrade worth it for ATI Radeon - HD 5770 for 3 monitor setup

    HI;

    I have a ATI Radeon HD 5770 running with the latest drivers with a 3 monitor setup. I have been playing a fair amount of video recently, either with video editing or playing back streaming video.

    I've always noticed that I would have times were video would get choppy or playback with alot of artifacts for lack of a better term, where the video screen is not refreshing smoothly. Much of the time when I see this happen, I will still appear to have system resources available, and I suspect I am pushing my video card to the limit. If I run the system with just my video editor open for example, it I would normally get pretty decent playback.

    I use Adobe Lightroom and Sony vegas, which I think both use partial GPU assist.

    Would I be likely to see a new video card clear up any video playback issues on my system or in any other way speed things up?

    Thanks,

    Jamie

    A newer card, especially an HD 7xxx card, will be able to use the latest drivers (12.11 Beta), but I think your 5770 should ALSO be able to do that. So, I would try using those drivers before buying a new card -- at least, to see if the drivers clear up the artifact problems.

    Thanks, I really though I was at the latest version. It looks like version 12.10 was released since the last time I checked. I'm downloading that now. I'm also downloading the beta as well.

    Are the beta drivers normally pretty stable?

    Thank You,
