    Anyone here using Nvidia FX 5500 or Any FX series graphics card with Windows 7?
    Is it working fine for you?
    How about the drivers?
    Did you experience BSOD?
    Please reply if you're using a fx driver on windows 7
    Thank you

    I have exactly the same video card on my WORK PC. Runs Aero fine in the Vista Ultimate O/S.

    A cpl weeks ago I repartitioned my HDD, and on the new E Drive, installed RC Windows 7.

    When I first booted in to Windows 7, no Aero. Windows Update then automatically set off to see if there were any Updates available and downloaded driver WDDM NVIDIA 7.14.10.9687 (a 32MB download), set a restore point, installed, I rebooted and now no problem with Aero, all good.

    I have not had a BSOD on this PC or my home PC which is running RC W7 also, but with a different graphic card...

    Try doing a search for available updates thru Windows Update...that's my suggestion anyway.

    Good luck
    Rod

    I had FX5200, worked flawlessly

    Here the link to nVidia with the driver you need: ForceWare Release 95

    It's for Vista, but you can use that one. Just in case, you might want to run the setup in compatibility mode for Vista.

    Driver sets that worked for me with a Geforce FX 5900 & Win7 Ultimate were 158.18 & 163.11. Newer sets did not work, but I didn't test them all. Omega's Vista drivers (169.09/25) did not work. Only simple mods to add dev id are required in two files:

    nv_disp.inf
    Code:
    [NVIDIA.Mfg.NTx86.6.0]
    %NVIDIA_NV35.DEV_0332.1%  = nv_NV3x,      PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0332   ;5900XT

    [Strings]
    ; Localizable Strings
    NVIDIA_NV35.DEV_0332.1  = "NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT"
    modes.txt
    Code:
    [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings]

    // 0332 - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT
    The results:

    I also installed ntune 5.50.54.00. Hope this is of use.

    GeForce FX 5500 probs

    These may be the same mods that Mobility Modder made, which made things work on my system.

    Thanks!
