Windows 7: cant install Radeon X800 GTO error code 38

Hi there, got a brand new HP Pro MT tower, 7 pro x64. I wanted dual output so i put in a Radeon X800 but MS seems to install the driver, even when i download the latest from the ati website still does not work or says that the latest hardware is installed. There are two devices (one for each output) and at the end they have (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)

I tried another card ( which was also an AMD based one) and i get exactly the same thing (the chipset and on board card are based on AMD )

nothing seems to have fix this, tried the MS fix it Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows, cc clean, different drivers, disabling it, running on the onboard card and try and install the drivers.



The full error code is Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

if somebody could point me in the right direction that would be great.
