Windows 7: Black Screen with cursor on start up

Good day, im having this problem on my acer 4741g laptop recently. Upon start up im having this black screen with cursor for about 10-15minutes until in boots up to normal start up display, i also observed that after the black screen in boots up very slow. This only happens when i shut down or restart my system otherwise this problem dont show up.
I already did some troubleshooting including start up repair, adjusting my resolution and system recovery but still cant fix the problem. I need help with these, Any response would be gladly appreciated. Thanks!

Intel Core i3-370m processor
Nvidia GeForce GT 415M
2Gb DDR3 Memory
320Gb HDD

Just to be clear: where in the startup sequence does the black screen occur and delay?

• The instant you turn it on?
• A second or 2 after you turn it on but before the "Starting Windows" screen would normally come on?
• Or after the "Starting Windows" screen.

Do the fans in the laptop run louder while this is occurring?
Is anything other than the HDD light blinking?
Is the HDD light blinking?

Thanks, this happens after the windows loading screen instead of opening the start up screen im having this black screen for about 10-15 minutes before it comes back to normal starting screen (with the start up button and programs icons). The HDD light is blinking while in the black screen state and the fan seems to be normally running.

That would indicate that Windows is having a problem with a driver. The most likely suspect would be the video driver.

If you go into Device Manager, are there any components marked as problems?

There seems to be no problem in the Device Manager.

What are the basic specs on that Acer? Does it have an i3, i5, i7 processor? Does it have dedicated graphics?

As a quick test, pull the laptop battery out and run it just on the power supply/charger. See if that changes anything.

When did this start happening? Did you make any changes, including installing programs, around the same time this problem started?
