No display after installing ATI 13.1 drivers Hello, I've been trying to install the new ATI 13.1 drivers for my 7770's but during mid install my monitor goes black and never returns. I have waited for an hour, just to make sure its not still installing, but it still doesn't come back.
This is not my first time installing drivers, its just not working this time and I have no idea why. I have tried installing it multiple times in both crossfire and non crossfire settings. (I do not have my cards or CPU overclocked)
*Edit: I have also tried using my HDMI with the same result*
Each time after I try to install I have to hard reboot my computer and do a system restore.
Current Drivers are at 12.10
Specs are:
MB: Gigabyte 970A-UD3
GPU: 2 ATI 7770's in crossfire
CPU: AMD 6 core FX 6100
RAM: 16 GB
HDD: 1 TB
Monitor: Asus 24" VS247 using DVI in 1920x1080

you could try the 13.2 BETA: AMD Catalyst 13.2 BETA (12.100.0 January 1) Unofficial - Guru3D.com Forums
it cured my problem with Cyberlink Blu-Ray playback
- kept giving me a very dark (almost black) screen
..oddly enough - DVD playback wasn't affected.. (?)
the 13.2 BETA seems to run OK, though it's an unofficial release at the moment,
so I guess you have to take your chances..
no problems, so far.. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number benchtec, built to personal specs OS 64-Bit Windows7 Ult-SP1 CPU i7-965 Extreme Edition (8 Cores) at 3.3GHz (no OC) Motherboard BloodRage QuantumForce X58 (Socket1366) Memory 6G Corsair Dominator DDR3 - tripled Graphics Card 2xMSI AMD6870's in crossfire Sound Card Sonar(SB)X-Fi onboard Monitor(s) Displays SyncMaster P2050 20" Screen Resolution 1600x900 (widescreen) Keyboard Logitech G19 (wired) Mouse Logitech G9 Laser (wired) PSU 1000w Corsair Case ANTEC 900/2 all blue lights, etc.. The new 13.1 did not work on my machine either. The first time I installed it, the display blanked and just got the blinking cursor in the upper left of the screen. I had to force a power down with the PC's power switch. When I powered back up the disc (actually SSD) was corrupted and a chkdsk had to be run. After the chkdsk (and a lot of files fixed) the PC booted up but the display was in the basic VGA mode and the drivers were not loaded. I tried installing again and it did not cause the blank display but still was corrupted.
I reinstalled an older version and finally got it back working OK.
I have an AMD Radeon HD7770 video card.
However, I tried the 13.1 (same download that was used on Win 7) on Win 8 and it installed OK. Its the same hardware as I dual boot (with separate SSD's) so the only difference is the OS. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

I managed to get 13.1 installed and running. Incase anyone else has this problem I will link the post from AMD Game forums that helped me. AMD Game Forums - How to install new drivers
It says to download and run Catalyst uninstall manager and reboot.
download and run Driver fusion, and then reboot again.
(I ran Ccleaner after as well, because Driver fusion does not delete a few things from the registry without pro.)
Finally install 13.1
(I also had to remove my second GPU because the first time I did it, it did not work. my 2nd card is probably toast, even though I never used it much...) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number CybertronPC Syclone II GM4242C Desktop OS 64 bit Windows 7 Home premium CPU AMD 6 core FX6100 Motherboard Gigabyte GA970A-UD3 Memory 16 GB Ballistix Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 660 Factory Superclocked EVGA Sound Card Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" VS247 Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Razer Lycosa Mouse Razer Death adder PSU In win Commander II 850w Case Star Cruiser Cooling Corsair H50 Hydro Cooler, Cooler Master 120mm 2000rpm Hard Drives 1TB

I haven't installed 13.1 yet, but I do recall reading somewhere that 12.11 Beta is required to avoid as many problems as possible.
Just did a reformat, but I don't think I will be willing to give this a try yet, my 7770 is running fine with 12.10.
Whenever I install 12.11 the CCC crashes upon selecting any option.
Funny considering it worked perfectly before I performed a clean install. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop OS Windows 7 professional X64 CPU AMD A10-5800K OC@ 4.4Ghz. Funny considering it worked perfectly before I performed a clean install. I had the same exact problems trying to install 12.11 beta drivers as I did with 13.1. It was a nightmare to get it working, but I needed them installed for a few games I play to work correctly. I'm still looking into my second card to see why its causing these problems for me, and maybe find a solution for anyone else having this issue. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number CybertronPC Syclone II GM4242C Desktop OS 64 bit Windows 7 Home premium CPU AMD 6 core FX6100 Motherboard Gigabyte GA970A-UD3 Memory 16 GB Ballistix Graphics Card Nvidia GTX 660 Factory Superclocked EVGA Sound Card Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" VS247 Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Razer Lycosa Mouse Razer Death adder PSU In win Commander II 850w Case Star Cruiser Cooling Corsair H50 Hydro Cooler, Cooler Master 120mm 2000rpm Hard Drives 1TB
