    Monitor out of frequency issues

    Since installing Windows 7, my monitor keeps going out of range. I have a Gateway FPD1975W monitor and an nVidia 7950 video card. I have updated the nVidia drivers, but keep having the issue. The monitor will flash black then come back after a few seconds. About once a week or so, I get the Out of Frequency message on the monitor. If I turn the monitor off and back on, video comes back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Have you tried lowering the frequency in the monitors settings?

    I've already changed the refresh rate, and the monitor is set to the optimal resolution.

    Try this:

    Huge Problem with geforce 7900 GT --- horizontal lines

    Try software solution first with rivatuner to see if the problem is solved then go for the flashing...

    Try this... add custom resolution and manually select timing for the monitor. It's solved my shrinking picture problem... it could yours as well.

    @TBone
    I have installed rivatuner too but it seams that it's not functional at all. On a windows XP, setting rivatuner to unlock GPU has turn my card into a 384-bit with performance boosted to the sky-high... All new games worked on ultra high details (Turok, FEAR 2, Far Cry 2, Lost Planet... except Crysis which i have to downgrade to mix of the lower and high details) even if my card is Gainward 8500GT Golden sample. On a W7, even on a middle details is hard playable even on a DX9 mode. With or without rivatuner, it's a same performance so I must assume that it's not functional.

    The settings won't allow me to select any timing my monitor won't support. I'm going to try to uninstall the current drivers and use an older version of the nVidia drivers and see if that resolves the issue. Otherwise, I'm screwed until an updated driver comes out.

    I dunno. This is software from the manufacturer for the monitor. See if you could do something with this.

    Downloaded and installed, we'll see if it helps. I changed a couple of settings.

    Didn't work. Really frustrated. Think I'll go back to Vista, at least I didn't have this problem with it.

    In an earlier post you mentioned you installed the latest NVidia drivers.

    Did you mean the Windows update version, or the latest from NVidia's website?

    Another thing.
    Have you tried another cable?

    greetings
