Black screen after the windows logo.

    Here we go.

My laptop is hp-dv6-3122tx with ATI 5650 and intel hd switchable graphics.

Recently my laptop started giving me a black screen after the windows logo. I was having some issues with my GPUs too.

    Issues with GPU:

Sometimes my ATI card was not coming up in the device manager and i was only using intel HD. i have noticed that when that happens i can't see my laptop charging icon changes to plugged in mode even though i plug in the charger , but the laptop was of course charging perfectly . But recently i found my ATI card back in device manager and it was working pretty well. But after exactly a week I started getting some white lines appearing in the display too.

    Issue of black screen:

With that knowledge i assumed that the black screen issue is a counter-product of the GPU issue. I used safemode to uninstall all the GPU drivers. Then i can log into windows and work normally and windows detects the GPUs and install the plug and play drivers. After they install it i can restart the pc and work normally. But once a shut this down and later when i try to switch it on i get the black screen issue from ground zero.

that makes me believe that this is mere a software issue. But those white lines i mentioned about is due to hardware fault i guess. I don't know what to do right now. I don't want ATI graphics, intel HD is ok. i just want to switch this thing on and do my work coz i can't afford another laptop right now.

Please help me to resolve this issue. :)
    Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome Schintoff now I am no expert by any stretch but you could try and run a scannow as a first step

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Hey thanx for the quick response... I did the sfc /scannow command and it verified that there are no violations. Is it possible that my ATI driver is incompatible with Win 7 SP1?

No reason at all Schintoff from the specs that is what it came with so you tried the driver for the graphics - through Device Manager how about downloading the driver from the manufacturers site I find the Windows way a bit "flimsy" try this first AMD Catalyst

    Thnx again.

I tried the link but it says that my current display adapter is not compatible for that catalyst version. This is a switchable graphics enabled notebook so the ATI drivers are usually not compatible. But around 5, 6 months back i used them. The issue i have right now is that when i start my lap for the first time it cannot load the driver. But once i start it through safe-mode and remove either intel or amd driver it gets booted up with generic drivers and through plug and play it detects the graphic hardware. After that it works perfectly. Reinstaling windows is an option ain't it?
