I think DVI is better and more reliable.

You will see no difference between HDMI and DVI. DVI is more stable in my opinion though. I don't know how to explain what I mean.. but you will not notice any difference whatsoever specially if you buy such a low end monitor as the viewsonic. That one is mostly an old LCD that was wired to use DVI but with the electrical VGA array.

The primary difference between DVI and HDMI is that the HDMI cable delivers both video and audio feeds. A DVI connection only delivers the video feed, not the audio. There are some other differences, but I think thats all you must know. Basicly you won't notice a difference between them both. I also prefer DVI though, and if it's just for the price difference.

To your question about the monitors:

But before recommendations for these 2 displays are given, I'd like to ask what for you need a new monitor.

- Gaming

- Watching HD movies
- Basic office work
- etc.

Knowing this we could offer you some help by chosing a suitable monitor. Perhaps some other devices, not just those you suggested?

As mentioned by Erick Aguilar both monitors offer ''touch'' and ''3D'' features. Are you aware of that? And do you wish for those features specifically? Otherwhise you could spare some money or get a larger monitor... If you want to, of course. :)

I have an ''old'' acer 23inch. I love it. And my next purchase will be newer version of my monitor.
However it doesn't have 3D and pretty features, but it looks incredible. What I care for the most is what resolution it will handle natively, and it's contrast ratio (makes a huge difference in HD playback)

I do know of a secret cult of people who (whore)ship DELL monitors. They are really great in my opinion. I'm using one right now here at work. But for the same reason.. I only see DELL products as an office utensil hahaha.. But that's just me.

ya i want it for gaming and my work. I am actually a game developer who is learning this for more than 1 year, now i want to mke 3d model games so i need a faster cpu. Ya i need the touch and 3d. i think 23" is enough for me, i am currently using 14" laptop

By comparing the specifications of both products, here's wat I can tell you:

Screen resolution: both 1920x1080p
Display size: Viewsonic 21.5" / Acer 23" --> Acer +1
Display type: Viewsonic LCD / Acer LED --> Acer +1
Ports: Viewsonic DVI / Acer VGA, DVI, HDMI --> Acer +1
Audio: Viewsonic Speakers: 2 W *2 / Acer none --> Viewsonic +1
Price: couldn't find a price, sorry!

These are just some basic comparisons. I am no monitor-specialist, but already have used several different monitors so far. As normal user I'd say both monitors are ok, but I would go for the Acer. Acer also seems to be the more reliable brand than Viewsonic. (My opinion)


Just to be sure, let's hear what others have to say!

There's a lot of talk on Overclock.net about these Yamakasi "Catleap" monitors. I don't know which ones are good because I've never become involved in any of the threads, but it seems to me that some people over there are drooling over these things.
