    Will this graphics card work?

    Will this graphics card
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004...ls_o02_s00_i00

allow my Dell Dimension 3100C to support the aero theme on Windows 7 etc?

If looking for answer please ensure you are looking into a Dell Dimension 3100C and not a Dell Dimension 3100, a common mistake forgetting the 'C'

I'm unsure as about the wattage for the graphics card and the PSU.

If you have a pci-e x1 port that graphic card will work

Everything (PCI-E X1, low profile ready) looks OK, except:

PowerColor specifies a 350W PSU or greater. The 3100C has a 220W PSU.

PowerColor Official Website - Graphics, Cases, Power Supply -- PowerColor Go! Green HD5450 512MB DDR2 PCIEx1

I'd guess that the PSU is overspecified; I think that this is a 25W card.

    Feeling lucky?

Well I ordered it as I asked on the Dell forum and a person suggested it should work

    Link -http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19493891.aspx

When it arrives, if it installs and loads does that mean it works?

Or do I have to analyse it in the long-term?

P.S. I still have time to cancel it (approx 8 hours from this post) as it hasn't been dispatched yet.

You'll probably find out pretty quick. If you start getting Bug Checks, you'll know. That's pushing past the published limits of the PSU. Your CPU could shut down and/or you could damage the on-board voltage regulator. Believe it or not, hardware does have its limits.

    Looks like a 5450 has a lower power draw than a 3450:

Report: the true power consumption of 73 graphics cards - BeHardware

As Dell sold the 3450 for use in that system, you ought to be OK.

If you want to beat on the card, try Furmark:

    Stress it.

But I wouldn't stress a low profile card with passive cooling, on a small form factor computer with such a weak psu
