    New Graphics Card Purchase Decisions

I am seeking a new GPU, as mine is quite dated and reaching the end of its lifespan. Also, I do not require the extreme visual quality of more expensive cards, although I would still like some power, so I am opting for a mid-low range card. Currently, I am considering this GPU from NCIX:

Is it a good deal? Some reviews I have read complain of stability issues, but the general opinion is mixed. I would appreciate any advice or other suggestions.

Hello TJO I am no expert mate but I went to Nvidia for mycards and should have done since day one I find it is much easier to use thanthe Ati stuff.

At the moment I have Ge Force GTX 650 cards in my machinesand am really pleased with them. But when I get back from my trip I am going upa notch to a 660 for the Ivy Bridge as it has more memory etc.

I looked at that site you are buying from and this is thenearest to what I have got in my machines right now

Just means that you have to delete the drivers for Ati and get the NVidia stuff but it is up to you. Good price on that card though.

Have you looked at the new 7790 cards? The 1GB versions seem to cost about the same as a 7770, but the performance is supposed to be significantly better.

Newer isn't always better, but the 7790 seems to be a better choice.

Personally the NVidia would be my choice for the ease of use alone - giving away games smacks of they are having a job selling it to be honest.

I've found Nvidia easier also, have had ati before and bsod when upgrading drivers. I worked through it, the video cards are good but I totally agree.

But if I could get free games like crysis 3 I would be happy

Thanks for the suggestion, that looks like a much better option, which I will certainly consider. My current card was manufactured by Nvidia though, so I'm not sure why you brought up ATI.
