    Resolution crash, can't get it back to normal


    So here's another resolution post. I did some looking around but some of these answers are over my head.

    I've been running Win 7 for about 2 months, everything has been fine. The connection is a VGA cable into a DVI adapter, I'm using an ATI 4890 card. The monitor is a Westinghouse LCM 22w3.

    A few days ago I went into the driver manager to check if there was an update available. Randomly, my resolution went to crap and has been messed up ever since. For whatever reason, Windows will not detect the correct, native resolution of 1680x1050, and I am not even given the option to select that resolution. I'm currently at 1280x960. I also had to make the monitor re-auto adjust to fit everything on screen properly.

    I may note, I didn't always have the Westinghouse. I started using some silly Compaq monitor, but it was a smooth transition when I got the Westinghouse.

    I have deleted the video drivers, reinstalled, nothing. I have gone so far as to format my hard drive and start with a fresh Windows install, thinking something was messed up. Still nothing. I hope I have provided enough information, help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Update: I just did a little experiment.

    I shut down and hooked up that old Compaq monitor that I originally used. Windows detected the correct resolution of 1440x900 off the bat, and had it selected as "Recommended". Same connections and all.

    I shut down again and hooked up the Westinghouse. Still have the same issue of incorrect resolution. Does it have something to do with the monitor?

    Have you tried creating a custom resolution?

    I'm not sure exactly as I don't use Radeon, but in CCC under Digital Panel Properties, I think there's an option here to set a custom resolution. If it's not here, then there will be an option somewhere to create one.

    There is a function in the ATI control center that says "Force Resolution," but again, the resolution I need is not even listed for selection.
