how do i lock my montior&size instead of pnp?

everything is running great but I have a single keyboard, monitor, mouse with a 4 port KVM. When I boot up windows 7 is there anyway to make it use the loaded NEC monitor, the 1278x1024/32bit settings vs defaulting to pnp and then I have to click detect to change back to normal?

And in device mngr do you have the driver installed for your monitor (if it has one). You need to fill in your user cp with all our system specs ti helps others to help you more efficiently.

    sorry, will update
KVM is always on and toggle between many PCs
once windows 7 is up and i toggle back and forth no issues, its just if I had to reboot and then toggle away then come back then it goes to plug and play and looks like 800x600 then I manually change to below and all is good other than rearranging my "gadgets"

    current settings are
    Display: NEC LCD1765
    Resolution 1280x1024 recommended
    Orientation Landscape
device manager has loaded NEC LCD 1765

I suspect this is happening. you reboot. during the reboot you toggle away, your machine doesn't sense a monitor on the video card and reverts to VGA. If you stay on and not toggle away does it display correctly with out having to be reset

im wondering is because my monitor which appears as "NEC LCD1765" but under device manager my monitor is showing up as "Generic PNP" I have older drivers for my MultiSync LCD1765 NEC but win7 wont take them..if I could find specific driver maybe it woud never change when I toggle back and forth..any idea where to get drivers for win7 64bit?

I have a similar thing happening.

My HTPC sits under the TV and is on pretty much 24-7. If the TV is on when I power up the pc, the resolution is fine. Turn the TV off and administer the pc via VNC, the resolution has switched to 1024x768. Turn the TV back on, the screen flickers for a couple of seconds before resorting back to 720p.

When I was running XP, the resolution would remain, whether the TV was on or not. This is much more favourable to me and I would like this behaviour back.

When you start the computer with Win7 on it is the KVM switched to it or another computer.
If you do the KVM does not know what monitor is connected and installs basic setup.

Ditto, but probably even more frequent and annoying: whenever I change the HDTV input to for instance Component (Xbox 360) and then back to the HTPC, Windows 7 has lost its resolution, resized and scrunched all windows in the upper left corner. The same thing happens if I change the A/V Receiver between its two HDMI inputs.

With Vista, this was no problem.
