    Radeon HD 7850 User Review

I own a Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB GPU, and I was wanting to know if anyone else here has this video card. Please tell me your experiences with this GPU.

So far I have played these games on it

FarCry 3 - High Settings - Great until you get to high vantage points and the FPS drops.

Just Cause 2 - High Settigs ~ Shadows turned down - Absolutely great

    Battlefield 3 - Ultra Settings - Flawless

    Sniper Elite V2 - Ultra - Flawless

Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 - Ultra - Flawless

The Amazing Spider-Man - ANY SETTING - Horrific * This game apparently is horribly ported and it's terrible, even for people with a monster 680 or 690.

Grand Theft Auto IV - Very High - Flawless

I want to know other peoples experiences, preferably with Metro 2033 and Crysis 3.

    What about the temps?

And we are asuming that flawless means 60FPS?
    On what resolution?

I also have a 7850 but my CPU (Dual core 3600+ 1.9Ghz) might be bottlenecking certain games' performance such as Red Faction: Guerilla and Planetside 2. Many of my games, even newer games give a very good performance boost compared to my old 3850.

I play my games at 1280x720 to give the 16:9 ratio and not the squished 4:3 that 1024x768 gives.

Temperaturewise, it sits idle around 28 to 31 C, 15 C cooler than the 3850 and at load I have not seen it go above 50-55 C (using TechPowerup's GPU-Z to gauge readings). It also likely stays cooler because of 2 fans and the nm is half of my old card.

Erick, aren't you on a 7870? It still hanging in their, irregardless of temps and you did determine a good fan speed, finally?

with resolutions less then 1920/1080 should run smooth as butter even though you run a bottlenecked Cpu still will do better on lower res

1680/1050 should see a little more then 60 fps lower resolution shouldn't have those issues
I would look into driver features as in Optimization the CCC they have Game presets as in settings pre optimized looks like this

The fan does no big difference, it has been on a custom profile since day 1. It was never the fan.
The thermal paste did make a difference, but the card is still hot. So sadly all I can do is play the games with the same graphic settings, but at 80fps. If I bump up the settings it comes down to smooth 50 + - fps, but the temperatures are too close to 90C for comfort.

Well Erick, if you have space next to that video card, you could get a slot fan to help suck out the hot air even faster.

    $6.... here:

    Rosewill RFX-100 90mm Case Fan - Newegg.com

One review said he dropped 8C using it.

    YMMV

Nah, this video card moves air around the card, not downwards, and my sidepanel has side ventilation, so there is practically no hot air in the case at all.

But no worries, the paste seems to have settled and is all better now.
