2 Graphics Cards - Not Detecting Both

Okay well i wont be able to get a new one this month but which would any of yourselves recommend?

I posted a link a few posts upwards and thats a 1000W PSU, Would that one be any good?

It should more than do the trick. Here is the catch though. First it has to be a quality brand supply and second it is the amount of volts on the 12v rail(s) that matters. I think I read an article on tomshardware or guru for my GTX 260 that recommended 40 w on the 12v rail. EV GA Ge Force TX 260 Core 216 Super-clocked review so for yours it might be wise to get at least that. An OCZ or PC power and cooling. If you read the entire artrcial it will give you some Idea, I'm using a OCA 700w game extreme. with just the 1 card. You are going to be using 2 cards Even though they are different, 1000 w should work as long as it is a major branded supply. (check the volts on the 12v rail(s) I just read a review on it 32.00 power supply for your system? the last place to save a few bucks is with the most important part of your system Power.IMO

Ah, alright. I got thrown off by this comment you made though:

I don't understand why you can't currently do that. I run games and have my second monitor viewable at all times with using only my one card.

Are you saying that the 2nd monitor gets messed up when you play games with only your main card attached?

Here's some further advice. PSUs are easily jumpered with a paper clip to run without being connected to a motherboard. If you have another old one around, do that and then connect one of the molex outputs to your second card while it is installed and PC is off. Boot up pc then. If everything works well now, you know for sure it is/was a power supply issue.

Then you can go out and buy a new PSU with confidence that it will alleviate your problems.

The thing is, Although it may not be much but running a second monitor on the same GPU will reduce performance on the primary screen, Like i said the difference may be minimal.

Is there no way of running the same Desktop (With icons and taskbar) on both screens at the same time? but only one is active until you switch over to the other?

Probably not enough to even notice. Tried benching to see if there is a difference?

That would be clone mode., and if you run any full screen game it will display on both at the same time.

I guess until i can get some money to buy a better PSU i'll just stick to what i've got
