Sign of a broken video card?

I was playing CSGO and my computer suddenly crashed on me. Second time it has happened. Upon reboot, i got these artifacts on the screen. It's not the monitor, my Xbox shows up fine. The BSOD won't even show up properly, can't read off the error code.

Is this the sign of a broken video card?

Looks very much like a broken card to me.

You can always test it in another PC if you have access to one, or take it to a computer shop to get them to test it, but I recon it's dead.

Thanks! What would you recommend as a replacement?

- I'm not going to run multiple cards.
- Using an AMD board, if that makes a difference
- Light games (CSGO, BF3, BF4, Starcraft 2, maybe crysis etc)

I would test it in another PC first to save on an upgrade. If you want to upgrade use the one in paulpicks21's specs

Sapphire Vapor-X HD7970 GHZ Edition

I'm not sure if your cpu would bottleneck it though.

Whats your budget?

Mid range cards that are very good - HD7850 or GTX660 , Mid to high end cards HD7870, HD7950 or 660ti, High end cards HD7970, GTX670 or 680.

Crysis and BF3/4 are considered LIGHT games?

All just depends on $ you gotz to spend.

pcpartpicker.com your brains out once the $ is known.

Like right now $150 gets you a 7790 or a 650 Ti Boost, probably adequate for most people.
Although $160ish is now a 7850 (1gig).
$200: 660 / 7850 (2gig)
$215: 7870
-----------------------shouldn't need an upgrade for a long while if you go past this line:--------------------------
$300: 7950
less than $400: 670 / 7970 / 6950 [some models more]
$400ish: cheapest 580
$1000ish: 7990 [yeah I know you want 3 of em. ]

That 660 should be pleasing for good 2 years+, decent choice, probably put that in grey area between good and great cards since it's a Ti.

As far as broken or not, I yank out the video card and stick it in another system.
Video cards over time can loosen in their slot which will eventually cause some random errors.
If you don't clean it's fan or it gets caked in dust, cables go bad, the powers supply can degrade over time and cause video malfunctions, a driver going bad or buggy, etc etc.
