Need help connecting Computer to TV

I am trying to connect my VGA computer to my DVI-D TV. Here is what I tried that I thought would work:
VGA male to DVI-A adapter, which then goes into a DVI Female cable, where the other end was DVI-D, which plugged into the tv.
Why did it not work? What can I do differently?

There is no "Source" button on the remote.
The TV is a Panasonic Cinemavision.

Have you tried . Turning off the PC . Plug the cable from the TV to the PC and then turn on the PC ? See if the PC sees the TV that way ?

The problem is you are trying to feed an analogue signal (VGA from the computer), to a digital connection (the TV).

Digital Visual Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You need to use a VGA-DVI converter, something like this,

For only $129.86 each when QTY 50+ purchased - VGA to DVI Converter

not an adapter, to convert the signal.

Really? Ok, thank you. I thought the Adapter would work. why does it not work the way I have it? Does an adapter not convert the signal?

So what you're saying is, though the TV has the port, It won't let the computer work?
