    Newly updated windows 7 from windows xp ( screen resoultion problem)


    Hello
    yesterday i updated to windows 7 and i am having troubles with my resolution it is stuck at 640x480
    i am not sure what has happened but please can someone help me

    Welcome to the forum, you need to install a driver for your video card most likely. Do you know what brand it is? If not please let us know the exact model of your Dell

    i tried making it auto fill but it had an error so i filled in as much as possible manually,
    anyways these are my motherboard and grpahics info if it helps

    This system probably features the decade old Intel 82845G Graphics which does not support WDDM. You could install the XP driver in Compatibility Mode but that won't solve your resolution problem nor would you have proper video acceleration/Direct X support.

    You could get a low profile card if you board has an AGP slot. But be aware that some versions of the Dimension 2400 have no such slot. In that case you're only be left with the possibility of buying a PCI card like this one:

    Open the case and check whether it has that slot. Check my above updated post, I linked that PCI GT610 card which should work on your board.
