Geforce GTX 670MX : Is there a way to set fan speed manually?

The fan noise when running 3d applications is killing me. It's only at 50% usage and 48 degrees celsius according to GPU-Z but the noise is REALLY loud. It's a brand new laptop too, so there's nothing wrong wtih it, it's just the fan speed goes up too high...

Have you tried using a program like MSI Afterburner or SpeedFan? They are great programs to manually control fans, watch temperatures and even control voltages. Hope this helps, let us know if you have any more questions.

    Try this.

ZOTAC FireStorm: ZOTAC - It's time to play!

A laptop may not let you adjust the fan speed.

Doesn't work either. It says fan speed is 0% and thats obviously not true. Whats the limiting factor of controlling the fan speed?

Hi there ..... As already has been stated it may not be possible to adjust the fan speed .... One way that might be possible is by ... Checking your laptop make and model and research how to adjust the fan speed. There is no single, universal way to do this, so finding the exact model will help you do your research. Some brands have tips written in the user's manual.

OP, the why.... is hardware choices made by the manufacturer, it's just that simple.

Cutting corners on costs and consumers get less tweakable fare, sometimes.

I am surprised you have no fan adjusting options, in the bios and/or the Nvidia video applications. [Those are your two places to look, and if not in bios I would look for a BIOS update]

But, be glad the fan is running, laptops with all that hardware crammed into a small space, need circulation badly or it's broken in a matter of milliseconds.

Could check guru3d.com for a 3rd fan app, perhaps.
