GTX 680 fit Alienware x51
I was looking at the specs of a GTX680 and it is a smaller card than the 670. It is not as long and it only covers 2 slots were the 670 covers 3. Will the 680 fit an Alienware X51?

The top X51 on dell.com/alienware comes with a 670, so YES appears to be the answer, although I don't know if case size changes or not from the 4 different X51 models, for 100% certainty I would call and ask them.
Only other concern is the 680 is 25 more watts then the 670, as they appear to be putting pretty weak PSU's on those systems to cut corners.
Not a fit issue, maybe need a bigger PSU watts wise for any upgrades.
Alienware like all bulk produced PCs are rarely better than build it yourself, if the stuff goes on sale with a big discount, it's probably right before changing to a new model series.
Nope. If it is a normal-sized desktop the PSU is inside. Only nettops get away with laptop-grade external PSUs.
Open the case and look at the sticker on the metal box that spews a ton of multicolored cables to the mobo and all other devices inside. Post wattage and the A per 3.3 and 12 volt if it's written.
if it does not have an external power brick like a laptop, it will have an internal box like I said.
If it has a power brick, then post the szpecs on its sticker, anyway you should be fine by just buying a more powerful one if needed.
Call the Alienware folks up and ask them your very specific question, like I said already... power specs and space, I have NO way of knowing since I don't have access to one.
If they can't tell you, they are incompetent and please report that.
