    Graphics Card Driver Stops Responding

    Hi guys,

I am trying to play a few games such as Battlefield 3, GTA IV & Call of Duty: MW3.

However my graphics card driver for my Nvidia GTX 470 keeps stopping when ingame
In event viewer i get the following error:

Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
They are the latest driver version: 301.42

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Anyone know how to fix this

    Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding
previous thread, i am not sure if u want to try all of that but you could try this
    1.open device manager
2.under display adapters right click yours and "update driver software"
    3.Click browse computer
4.Let me pick from a list
    5.Click "have disk"
    6.Browse
7.Find where nvidia puts the drivers when setting up.Should be in C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\(your version of driver)\WinVista_Win7_32\English
8.Look for "nv_disp.inf" and open that file then press ok
9.Click your videocard and press next.
    10. should be finished, test out your game

Download (BUT DONT INSTALL) 301.42 and download and install Driver sweeper.
Go to safe mode, Start > Search > "Device Manager" (without quotations)
In device manager, expand the "display adapters" tab and right click your graphics card. Select Uninstall.
Then go to Driver Sweeper. select boxes "NVIDIA Display" and "PhysX" (Not too sure about the "Chipset" Option).
Then select "Analyse", "Clean", and when prompted to restart, select restart.

Once you're back on normal windows, wait for the computer to detect the graphics card.
Restart once more and then install 301.42.

Try doing either of these, separately. So try one 1st and if it don't fix it enable it again then try 2.
    1. Go to your video card settings>advanced settings> and set everything to application controlled
2.Go to your video card settings>advanced manage 3D settings> and turn off vertical sync
You may also want to rune a memtest, to see if faulty ram or GPU, to do so follow these steps in the below link:
Try: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Yup I have tried doing both of them already. And tried a Memtest last night all was fine with that :/.

What else have you tried from this Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and or this Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding...
This problem seems very tricky and has multiple reasons as to why it could happen. I don't own a nvidia g card or anything, but it almost seems as if replacing the card works best. Try out solutions on both of those links.
one guy claims to underclock the card that the factory had it set on, and he never saw the problem again.

    Hi,

Just checked EventViewer again and now get this error:

The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    \Device\Video5
    CMDre 00000001 00000094 ff1fe138 00000004 00000084

I did some research on that issue, and not much is known. Most people replaced the card to fix the problem. One last try is uninstalling the drivers in device manager and then rebooting to see if windows can find the drivers for it.
