Okay I have finally returned to windows 7 home premium 64-bit.
Before running the windows updates, i saw 2 standard VGA adapters in device manager.
After running the windows updates, I saw only intel hd grahics.
What can I do ?
I've been suffering from this problem for more than 2 months now :s Please help
Based on your reporting OP:
I would look up all your installed Windows UPDATES (look in Windows Update) and see which one might have interfered and remove it.
I'd remove anything suspicious and reboot, drag Device Manager shortcut to desktop so you can get at it quickly, same for Windows Update and just have at it until you have both video adapters again showing up after reboots.
[Updates probably listed in Add Remove Programs as well]
I don't like WU's lack of info on most updates, forcing you to repeatedly go to their website gets very annoying when there are lots of them.
If Windows Update shows the offending update again, I would hide it.
I would also backup your registry once this is fixed and note in the name VIDEO WORKING PROPERLY so you don't lose track of it so easily. :)
I have not worked with 2 GPU laptops, myself, I would try to completely disable the crummy on-board if at all doable, and probably wouldn't recommend/buy one like it, rather just get the 1 GPU solution for all up front, power consumption saver, I suppose, but I would carry a second/third battery over dealing with issues like this. :)
Hi there ... If you don't find a solution with the above post ... I would check in the Bios to see what your settings are ... Though i am getting a feeling that the Card is starting to fail
