How to connect external Graphics Card

Toshiba a665-s6050 Laptop
Core i3 M350
8GB RAM Dual Channel
Intel Graphics

I have no idea how external video card works so here are my questions i hope somebody will be able to answer these

1.) i have no background knowledge about this so, is this even possible for a notebook?
2.)if this works, what kind of slot/port do i need to make it work
3.)are there 3rd party devices that i need to purchase (adapters etc.)
4.)specifically what kind of graphics card can i hook up with my laptop?

i would really appreciate legit replies, and if possible for me to understand the topic, i know its too much to ask, can i get a graphical presentation(diagram) or youtube links that can help me thanks and godbless

1. Yes but it won't be a good idea given the specs of that laptop especially the low end i3 which would bottleneck graphics performance.
2. A spare mPCIe or Express Slot
3. Yes adapters and an external PSU to power the card.
4. Anything but your laptop will create a bottleneck.

DIY eGPU experiences

It would be better to invest in a gaming PC, it's not worth pairing an external GPU with such a low end laptop.

i really appreciate these 2 replies, now about the bottleneck, actually uhm the reason why im interested in this topic is because i want to play something that doesnt require much process and much graphics processing, like for example,

-DOTA 2
my friend have a dual core 2.?? ghz
2gbram
winxp
1gb videocard
works smoothly on his PC

if i hook these external GPU, do you think there will be an improvement playing DOTA 2? i usually get about 15-30FPS
