    Video hardware error

Hello. I turned on my computer a few hours ago and it's been running much slower than normal. For example, it takes a minute for Windows to load when it usually only takes a few seconds. Please help. I think a video hardware error may be the cause. I recently updated from Internet Explorer 8 to 10.

Have a look at this Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Update your graphics drivers to the latest ones, its best to uninstall old drivers then run Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling then install new drivers from here AMD Graphics Drivers & Software there is an auto detect and install option if your not sure

Thanks, Pauly. I did a sfc scan and it found nothing wrong, so I suspected that the drivers may need to be updated. I'm not sure how to uninstall and update a driver, though.

Uninstall via control panel add/remove programs then follow my previous link to remove driver left overs then visit other link to AMD/ATI site to install new ones, any problems then feel free to ask back and if problems persist after trying this then follow the BSOD posting link and upload your dump files and i will take a look for you :)

The computer is running normally again. However, when I logged in today, it asked me to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. I wasn't connected to the Internet at the time. I clicked on 'Download' and it caused Adobe to stop working.

I got another video hardware error a few hours ago. McAfee was doing a virus scan at the same time. The Action Centre said the AMD/ATI Video Driver stopped working properly.

Hi Pauly. I was trying to install a new AMD driver from the AMD website via the autodetect software and there was another Blue Screen of Death. I turned off my computer and turned it back on. It took a few minutes to load. I checked Device Manager and it said my ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series driver has a problem. It's not working at all. It seems Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged.

I uninstalled the driver. Windows Update installed a new driver called 5470. My laptop was running fine until the AMD driver stopped responding again and caused another video hardware error. The laptop is a Dell Studio 1558. Thanks for your help, Pauly. I checked for solutions from the Action Centre and it said "AMD/ATI Video Driver has stopped working properly.
For info about possible solutions to this problem, go online to the Hewlett-Packard Company website".
