Can I get some help with a screensaver problem.

I've had no problems using a screensaver up until last night when I got the attached message.

This morning I updated the video driver and all was well.

Now, a few minutes ago, the message is back.

I guess a screensaver is not really necessary but I like them. I get this message when selecting any Windows 7 screensaver except Photos.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

New development - I was able to update the Gr520 Driver for the NVIDIA Ge Force card. The screensaver is working again (fingers crossed).

Don't give up on me now because if it's like earlier, the message will come back.

    Thanks for reading.

Just a driver bug probably, or were you - the card driver entirely?

Screen Savers on LCD monitors are unnecessary, they are now just a lock your workstation while away automatically/toy.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I knew they were unnecessary but since they are there, I like them to work properly. I noticed another thing that happened this morning - I only use two non Win 7 sounds- got mail and empty recycle bin and they were gone too. Had to put them back.

    I do believe in gremlins.

    Scanned for viruses/malware lately?

Although Gremlins is interesting theory. :)

Message is back so I gave up.

I scanned for everything possible and I'm not going to ever consider starting over again with Windows 7. Too much work.

I installed Win 7 on May 31, 2012 and it has behaved well up until now.

I going to call this solved.

    Thanks for hanging in there.

Oh, I should have mentioned that I tried updating the driver again and got the message that the driver is up to date.

    Another possibility:

Some file that screen saver expects no longer has code available where it wants/expects it, like an updated .DLL or .OCX file, that some other program has changed, and so it has to bailed on you.

Just a theory.... [screwing up basic Windows 7 screen savers though, is weird]

You could try reinstall of Direct-X also.

I use Display Fusion for multiple monitors and it will not work with some screen savers, I had convo with one of the devs asking about it.

As simple as doing a search for Direct-X, download and install it?

Yeah Direct-X is Microsoft's thing, so it's readily available, just be careful you aren't tricked into downloading some 3rd party app to get it, I'd look on microsoft.com ONLY (or a search result direct to it).

    or here: :)
