    LCD TV vs. LCD Monitor

    Hi people!

As the topic suggests, which one is better? LCD TV or LCD monitor?

Also, why in the world do LCD TV's have a lifespan in hours (ex 60,000 hours) associated with them?

What would happen after the lifespan expires?

Sorry if these are n00by questions but considering I am just now gonna shift to LCD monitor from my 2002 15" CRT, yeah I'm a certified n00b!

Thank you very much for your time!

I think they are the same. TV would likely be bigger. As an example I have a 22" monitor and a 37" TV, both are LCD and give similar quality display.
My guess is nothing happens at 60,000 hours. More likely something will happen before, or after, but not exactly at 60,000. And what would happen is the display goes black probably due to the lamp dying. Go for it, you won't regret it, it will mage a huge difference compared to your CRT. Go for at least 19" widescreen format, even 21-22"+ are relatively cheap nowadays. And as opposed to CRT's LCDs do not really require screensavers, it's better having them go black or sleep after a set time when not needed, the less it is on, the less you use the lamp and therefore it will last longer. But 60000 hours is a lot anyways so I would not worry.
