HDMI output to the TV failing.

Hello!

I have an Asus G73SW that I have been playing games with via the HDMI on my TV. It has worked fine for a while now. Today, it will not work.

It will give the Windows device sound when I plug in the cable (doo duu!) but the screen on my TV will not change. It remains "No Signal." I tested the HDMI port on the TV via my DVD player, and it's working correctly. I also replaced the cable thinking there might be some interruption, but nothing changed.

It went to:
''Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution''
and tried to "Detect" and it shows "1|2. Multiple Monitors" but still nothing on the TV.
I have not installed any updates or drivers etc. Maybe I pushed the wrong FN combo in my sleep? FN/F8 shows the "Laptop" on the first press, on second press, it shows "HDMI" and the laptop screen goes blank, but no signal goes through to the TV. Previous to today, when I plugged in the HDMI, it auto detected and I never had to cycle through FN/F8.

Edit: I installed the latest Nvidia Driver setup and there was no change. I also restarted with the HDMI plugged in, but it only displayed the same "No signal." Windows mobility center does recognize the Display as being connected.

What's the input set TO on the TV itself?

Just checking.... if it's wrong you will be working on it helplessly forever. :)

The mobility app and the screen res screen ARE both showing the TV as active?

I would download your laptop manual and check out the FN keys, sounds likely.

Jimbo, it was working fine, I think OP got caught up in FN key madness accidentally or if that drunk, on purpose.

Windows+P I had never used before, ever. LOL! [likely because I have it disabled most of the time, to avoid dying in games] The Screen Res screen should be same settings, any way?

Windows Key - Enable or Disable

^Required restarting 7 to take effect.

I've had this problem also. The solution is to match exactly the resolution of your graphics card to your TV. Often, this is not what you think. On my old Sharp 720p the actual resolution was a bit higer then 720. I found this out by calling Sharp directly. They gave me the correct numbers to plug into the graphics card and it worked.

Of course, the other problem is getting the right combination of desktop extension with the correct computer monitor. On my system, I have 2 monitors so I have to ensure that monitor 2 is disabled, monitor 1 -- the main desktop and TV 3 are combined. Then I recheck because Windows reassembles this setup after I set it up, i.e., I have to do this twice.

I haven't figured out a way to get this to set up in Catalyst so I can do this as a preset.
