I'm not grasping what the "fat" capacitor on the MB has to do with your issue. If your MB had problems, you would achieve better results with a generic driver.
I believe this is purely a driver issue. I say this from my personal experience with nVidia graphic cards. The most updated nVidia driver is v320.49 but I use v296.10 because it is stable for my video editing software, whereas v320.49 has some weird conflict that crashes the software.
Windows will say "device is working properly" because the OS found a solution & installed it. But we need to know exactly
what driver is installed. Please do the following. Go to your device manager for your display adapter & provide us with driver info. I've attached a jpeg of mine.
