Alright, at least we are no longer going in circles.

Gfx card is in second port and things are changing. After the install of 12.8 failed I reverted to safe mode. Uninstalled gfx driver through device manager.

    Reboot

Log on, win update automatically downloads driver and installs, now I have a bsod.

I have previously tried an HDMI cable and not the current DVI that I am using. It was giving the same response as this.

Getting debug tool for dmp file from bsod

It worked fine before this correct. I have also had this issue before. I'm not sure how I fixed it though because I was going up the walls with frustration last time as well. I vaguely remember uninstalling my .net frameworks and reinstalling them, as well as all of my C++ redistributable(s). And then I installed my gfx driver to the magic of finally being usable.

OK if you have reached BSOD fun times. Go here and get | run | post/attach what it says.

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

If you wind up posting in the BSOD forum, reference this thread.

BSOD is ugly, but that will give us a look deeper into the issues.

Did that BSOD repeat on another reboot? That is the first rule of BSOD, ignore it once, look for one that repeats.

Yeah it repeated. But I ignored it because it was from windows trying to install a driver from 2011. I finally got it to work after reinstalling my .net 4 framework, both the client and extended. Then I made sure I had both x86 and x64 visual c++ redistributable. Had it working for about 4 hours when I came back to a black screen. Thought it was asleep but realized something worse is at hand. Card won't put out a display from bottom dvi port now. It will from the top dvi and the hdmi but has same issue as before with black screening just prior to the log on screen.

Testing a secondary card now to see if it's the card.
