AMD HD 7850 issues

Just got a new video card, and I'm having problems with it.

It's a gigabyte HD7850.
I replaced my old HD6570 and the performance is much much better.

The problem I'm getting is very hard to explain. There's like this fuzzy thing going on when gaming. It gets a hell of a lot worse when vsync is off. With vsync on it's almost gone. And I can see it best when looking at things with a black/dark background. I would just leave Vsync on, but then the fps is limited to 30 which is real choppy.

This is only happening during gaming. And it is doing it for Far Cry 3 and Halo PC. It's worse for Halo PC probably because of the darker colours.

Yes, I ditched the VGI adapter and purchased a VGA to DVI cable, and the problem is gone.

funny, I have just posted this exact same problem in another forum... I would not have thought about that converter though :/ (I obviously have one on mine). Will try it without but looks like I will have to get a cable first.

Buy a VGA to DVI cable and your problem should be solved

I also get flickering on my screen with my 7970 when playing games, no matter what i do with the video options in the game.
And ive tried so many things to get rid of the problem but no luck. But this is some thing i gota try out and see if it works.
But what cable do you get the best quality from, DVI or VGA?

Awesome!! I'll do you one better though , I have just ordered a HDMI to VGA cable (my monitor still has a vga port on it xD). Should be getting that sometime today or tomorrow and will let you all know how it goes... but the outcome should be the same!!

I would imagine a DVI would provide better quality than VGA, or even better use the HDMI output from you card (provided your version has one that is)

The signal from a DVI and HDMI are the same. The HDMI just also carries sound, but the video is the same.

Now its interesting that you mention that, because when I plugged my cable in, my monitor didn't detect that it had an input and said please check the cable as there is no signal.

Let me just check that I understood what you meant from your post, basically it doesn't matter what's on the end of the HDMI/DVI cable because HDMI and DVI outputs are the same disregarding the sound ability?

Is there a reason then why my monitor doesnt detect the output when I use an HDMI to VGA cable compared to when I use the VGA(with DVI adapter) to VGA cable?
