ssd wont load Win7 after graphics driver installed.

I just bought a new SSD OCZ 120gb HD to install into my DELL XPS STUDIO 7100.

Iv'e done a fresh install (works fine with no graphics installed)-

As soon as I install my graphics driver (Radeon HD 5800) on reboot it sticks on the splash screen.
Not login screen (I have that turned off) but the next screen.

Nothing loads, (I just see the background display)
If I press Alt + Ctrl + DEL, the screen goes black.

Thats it. Can somebody please help.

THANK YOU in advance for your time and help.

    Regards
    Dave

    solved....

Stop the AMD - Catalyst driver from booting (remove from startup)

Although that means I can never use the manager.....

    Hi Dave,

I understand that you have resolved the issue by stopping catalyst driver to load. However, it might not be correct as many graphic extensive applications would not load correctly on the system if correct video driver is not updated on the system.

Please let me know the exact model number of the video card as I don't see this model of the card available with this system.

Kindly update your system specs here by following this.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

    UPDATE -

OK so after reinstalling another three times and installing Win8 I worked out the problem.
As my TV is connected to the PC via a HDMI lead and the screen via a DVI lead.

So some reason once the updated graphics were installed the TV was marked as primary and monitor marked as extended.
This would not have been a problem it the TV had have been on the PC channel.

As I have been watching reruns of F1 for the last three days I never realised until now.

So I have changed it to duplicate and that sorted that.

So the fix was Windows Key + the P key three times!

    Regards
    Dave.

    Thanks guys.
